Education: Studied fine art at the École normale supérieure and, later, contemporary dance.
1987
Appointed shoe designer at Christian Dior.
1988
Sequoia, the French bag firm, launches with Hardy as art director.
1990
Named creative director of shoes at Hermès.
1999
Launches first collection of women’s shoes under his own name.
2001
Collaboration with Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga begins. Named creative director of fine jewellery at Hermès.
2002
Launches eponymous men’s shoe collection.
2003
Opens first Parisian boutique in the Jardins du Palais Royal.
2007
Unveils an eight-season collaboration with Gap.
2010
Introduces the first Hermès Haute Bijouterie collection. Opens up a New York flagship store in the West Village.
2012
Collaboration with perfumer Frédéric Malle. Made a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France’s highest award for artists.
2013
Collaboration with François Nars.
