Game On

-

BAZAAR returned to the Royal Selangor Polo Club for the 2014 RMPA Internationals, presented by Visa Infinite. After four tournaments and 53 matches, in the final this year were Thai Polo and La Sarita, who had defeated Ranhill Polo, Royal Pahang, and KotaSAS-IBIL. Between chukkas, spectators sipped on cocktails and took in the intricacies of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s latest timepieces.

It was a game full of suspense, and Thai Polo ultimately triumphed over La Sarita 10-5. Most of the goals were scored by Carlos Pando and Raul Laplacette, both from Argentina.

“It feels really good to win,” says Ameer Jumabhoy of La Sarita, who played for Thai Polo on behalf of Dato’ Harald Link as the latter had just left for England. “A little bit emotional, because I was playing against my dad and old team. But I’m glad to have played with Thai Polo. I’m happy we won, as it was a tougher game than it looked.”

Along with the trophy, winners walked away with covetables from Royal Salute, Sothys Homme, and Jaeger-LeCoultre, while cork-drop prizes included afternoon tea and a night at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur.
