1 THE RIGHT DENSITY “Women don’t simply want a nice cut or great colour: they want the most beautiful hair in the world – hair that inspires admiration, hair that is strong and healthy,” says Eric Pfalzgraf, Kérastase expert stylist, of our relentless pursuit of thick, lustrous manes. Long list, but the impossible is possible now with these innovations. Firstly, you have to understand your own hair’s unique, genetically ordained density. “Hair density is not only the number of strands; it’s also volume, suppleness, and movement,” explains Pfalzgraf. 2 SKINCARE FOR YOUR HAIR “The diameter of a hair is determined by the number of cells as well as the diameter of the dermal papilla,” reveals Professor Bruno Bernard, manager of Hair Biology at L’Oréal. He was the one who discovered that the biology of scalp and skin are very much similar. Humans average a total of 100,000 to 140,000 follicles, but there can be more. Backed by 10 years of research, Stemoxydine, a new molecule that is now a patent owned by L’Oréal Research, helps mimic an ideal condition for stem cells to flourish, for more hair growth. The world’s first hair density activator by Kérastase Densifique transports the richest concentration into the scalp. Just massage the dosage deep in. 3 INSTANT VOLUMISER Sometimes we just need a quick fix, and an optical illusion can do wonders. Advises Pfalzgraf: “Work section by section, beginning with the hair surrounding the face. Curl the hair and give it a modern shape using brushes to enhance it while it’s still curved. After that, carefully ‘muss it up’ to get that ‘stylishly unstyled’ look that creates volume.” However, “brushing and styling techniques can damage the scalp and, consequently, increase the risk of infection and entry of chemicals. It’s essential to wash the scalp properly to avoid inflammation,” warns Dr. Antonella Tosti, a professor of dermatology and skin and scalp specialist. Prep with Kérastase Initialiste from scalp to ends. It gives an instant shine boost and also acts as a serum.
