TTell us more about the cam­paign. The story be­hind the ad­ver­tis­ing cam­paign is very cool. Its images are strik­ing and strong; whether you love them or not, you no­tice the images. That is the most im­por­tant thing about a visual im­age. All the peo­ple in the cam­paign are not mod­els but reg­u­lar peo­ple. It de­fines the very spirit of Marc by Marc Ja­cobs as a brand. They were se­lected via so­cial me­dia and were shot by fash­ion pho­tog­ra­pher David Sims; he is an amaz­ing pho­tog­ra­pher and Luella’s part­ner. The en­tire con­cept was the brain­child of Katie Grand. So there we were, all great friends work­ing to­gether putting pos­i­tive en­ergy into this ex­tra­or­di­nary project. Your favourite pieces from the col­lec­tion? Oh, they change. I love the biker jacket! We de­signed the en­tire col­lec­tion sim­ple but el­e­vated via tex­tile. Both of us wanted to fo­cus on the her­itage of the brand by rein­tro­duc­ing fab­rics from pre­vi­ous col­lec­tions, some of which have never been used after the very first Marc by Marc Ja­cobs col­lec­tion. Can you share with us your de­sign process? We looked through art books, and watched mu­sic videos on YouTube to cre­ate the character for the sea­son. Then we pre­sented it to Marc Ja­cobs to get his feed­back. It’s a fun, or­ganic, and nat­u­ral process. How do you in­tend to take the brand to the next level? It is go­ing to be a team ef­fort.
