BR I NGING SEXY BACK The slip dress makes a definite comeback this season. Here, we lay down our style tips on how to take Spring’s biggest trend out from the runway, into real style. By Amy Yasmine.
STEP UP Slip dresses with strappy sandals? Expected. Opt for combat boots and sneakers, instead. There are two schools
to this: grunge, or urban streetwear. While the former is a major throwback to the ’ 90s
(with Courtney Love as the eternal poster girl), the urban streetwear route gives props to Lily Allen’s days of pairing
prom dresses with Adidas shell toes. Grunge temptresses should look to Zoë Kravitz and Saint Laurent for cues, while Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein should be every urban
fashionista’s style heroes. Alexander Wang Spring/ Summer ’16 BALANCING
ACT When it comes to pulling off this season’s sexiest trend, texture and proportion can make or break your look. Combine elements that go against the slip to give it a more contemporary update. Look to chunky knits or leather jackets. At Saint Laurent, “King of Cool” Hedi Slimane paired rugged biker jackets with delicate lace, while Burberry showed us a new way to style their iconic trench. PLAY WITH ACCESSORIES As sexy as it is, the slip dress could sometimes come off as a little ... simple. The solution? Dress it up with statement making accessories such as exaggerated earrings or oversized
cuffs to bring your whole look together. Body chains and oversized hoop earrings work best against a bare décolletage, bringing the focus back to your visage, like at Céline. For those who dare to go bold, wear a tiara à la Saint Laurent.
Is there really a more fabulous way to dazzle the room?
