and film have always gone hand-in-hand, but no one marries both together quite like Academy Award-winning director Sofia Coppola. This was, after all, the woman who cheekily snuck in a pair of Chuck Taylors into her 2006 film, Marie Antoinette. This playful spirit—along with her effortless knack for mixing classy with cool—is what won her legions of fans, including the French luxury maison, Louis Vuitton.

It came as no surprise then that when Vuitton first collaborat­ed with the acclaimed auteur back in 2007, sparks (and bags) started to fly. A start to a beautiful love story, if you will, and this season saw it expand even more.

“What I really wanted, was a bag for myself and what my friends were looking for that wasn’t available at the time,” says the director, whose latest capsule collection for Louis Vuitton reimagines the classic Speedy Keepall. “My idea for the bag was also driven by everyday life. Everybody has a busy life; I wanted to have everything you need with you, and be able to go to a dinner straight from work.” Case in point: countless celebrity sightings with Louis Vuitton’s exclusivel­y designed SC bag.
