and film have al­ways gone hand-in-hand, but no one mar­ries both to­gether quite like Academy Award-win­ning di­rec­tor Sofia Cop­pola. This was, af­ter all, the woman who cheek­ily snuck in a pair of Chuck Tay­lors into her 2006 film, Marie An­toinette. This play­ful spirit—along with her ef­fort­less knack for mix­ing classy with cool—is what won her le­gions of fans, in­clud­ing the French lux­ury mai­son, Louis Vuit­ton.

It came as no sur­prise then that when Vuit­ton first col­lab­o­rated with the ac­claimed au­teur back in 2007, sparks (and bags) started to fly. A start to a beau­ti­ful love story, if you will, and this sea­son saw it ex­pand even more.

“What I re­ally wanted, was a bag for my­self and what my friends were look­ing for that wasn’t avail­able at the time,” says the di­rec­tor, whose lat­est cap­sule col­lec­tion for Louis Vuit­ton reimag­ines the clas­sic Speedy Keepall. “My idea for the bag was also driven by ev­ery­day life. Every­body has a busy life; I wanted to have every­thing you need with you, and be able to go to a din­ner straight from work.” Case in point: count­less celebrity sight­ings with Louis Vuit­ton’s ex­clu­sively de­signed SC bag.
