The award-winning filmmaker gives BAZAAR the scoop on her style crushes, future projects, and true luxury. What is real luxury to you? Having something that is beautifully made. Something custom is always luxurious, How does it feel to be part of another Louis Vuitton collaboration? I am so proud and so happy it stood the test of time and continues to evolve. and that’s how this project started. What was it like working with the design team? My job was to express what I wanted in a handbag, and to then look through the archives for inspiration. I was very lucky. What were you expecting to achieve from this collaboration? I was hoping that people would like it, but I was surprised by its broad success. I loved seeing my friends carrying it, but then I’d spot women on the streets carrying it, which made me proud. Who do you think has the best style—the French or the Americans? Parisian women, for me, have always been the chicest. Growing up, I always admired my father’s French friends. I remember the first time I met Aurore Clément. She made a huge impression on me by wearing just a men’s shirt and narrow black pants. She is always discreet and so elegant. What’s your next project? I am currently writing a script for a new film I’m planning to shoot later this year that will be out in 2017.
