STYLE PICKS

Celebrated Malaysian fashion designer Alia Bastamam on her hot picks for the season.

I love Sies Marjan’s simplicity and its colour selections. The clothes are not fussy and perfectly encapsulate what today’s women want to wear with our fast-paced lifestyle.

My go-to fragrance is Gabrielle Chanel by Chanel. The soft floral scent is feminine, alluring, and elegant.

I highly recommend Look Alive Out There by Sloane Crosley if you are looking for a light summer read. This compilation of essays is filled with Crosley’s hilarity and charm, and is sure to give you the giggles.

My top make-up saviour is the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. It really opens up sleepy eyes.

My collection of sunglasses is evergrowing. I’m proud to say I own almost every trend from the past decade, and these cat-eye frames are perfect for the summer.

A trip to Mykonos is never complete without a stop at Scorpios. This bar and restaurant offers a fantastic beach culture experience on a sun-drenched Greek island. The sunset view? Absolutely breathtaking.

There’s an inherent glamour to the kimono; it is one of my wardrobe staples. This breezy kimono dress with tropical palm tree motifs is on my current wish list.

Fun fact: most of my jewellery are pieces passed down from my mum and grandmother. However, if I were to splurge on a statement piece this season, it would be these chunky earrings by Leigh Miller.

I love the straightforward design on this Simon Miller Bonsai 30 nubuck bucket bag. It’s so zen on the outside, and I can chuck all my essentials inside.

I don’t really buy into the OffWhite fad, but these flats had me sold! I might just hop on this Off-White bandwagon after all. @aliabastamamkl
