DESIGNER MOOD BOARD: MICHAEL KORS
The American designer gets “up-leaf-ted” with palm leaf motifs, azure tie-dyes, and prismatic leis this season. By Amy Yasmine.
Tie-dyed Bermudas at Michael Kors Spring/Summer ’18? Quite an unsuspecting sight from the American designer, but seeing is believing. Subduing his signature jet-set glamour with an au naturel twist, Kors’s latest offerings run the gamut from embellished azure-blue pantaloons to breezy shirt dresses in tropical floral motifs. Streamer shirts and poet’s blouses are given a splash of rosewater and wisteria blues, while handwoven raffias bring an artisanal touch to oversized shoulder sacks. Evidently, dressing down is the new dressing up; think casually draped sarongs paired with soft blazers— or, for a more ingenious effect, croc flip-flops worn with metallic leis, and painterly wrap dresses in leafy prints.
