Sustainable Shopping
Sometimes it takes the littlest of things to create a big impact. Apart from recycling, one of the easiest eco-friendly things we can do as consumers is to simply cut down on plastic. Encouragingly, since a couple of years back, Malaysians have been doing just that by opting to bring their own shopping bags when heading out to the grocer’s.
How fantastic is it then that this season, two French maisons have come together to create the chicest of shopping bags? Clearly designed for the fashion-inclined, this cute carrier is the result of combining one recognised signature from each maison. On one side, we have Longchamp and the popular Le Pliage, then on the other side, we have the iconic Filt string shopping bag, a bag manufactured in Normandy since 1860. Put them together and we get a hybrid shopping bag that marries the Russian leather handles and flap of the Le Pliage with the large mesh of the Filt string shopping bag. Genius.
“It’s rare for a collaboration to bring together two bags,” says Sophie Delafontaine, artistic director of Longchamp. “But I like the idea of a union between two icons that combine to exalt an allure, personality and a little humour.”
Feminine, refined and somewhat quirky, the new hybrid bag exudes a vintage vibe that’s sure to turn the simple chore of grocery shopping into something a little bit special. The Longchamp x Filt shopping bag comes in black, blue, ecru, khaki green, orange, and powder pink.
