To New Beginnings

Italian jeweller Fope braves the pandemic to open their very first Asian flagship boutique right here in Kuala Lumpur.

Bravery is one thing, but to open a new store in the middle of a pandemic shows great confidence in a market that has seen better days. But we as a nation are recovering, in every sense of the word, and if anything, it’s encouraging to see that we as a country are still able to attract foreign investors to our shores. After a decade-long exclusive partnership with local fine jewellery boutique Suen, Italian goldsmith Fope has decided to open its very first flagship boutique in Asia right here in Kuala Lumpur. “Fope has catered to women from all walks of life who successfully wear multiple hats within a single day—a testament to the versatility of their pieces,” says Lee Sze Suen, founder and CEO of Suen, “We are excited and honoured to further this partnership through housing Asia’s first Fope boutique bringing everyday luxury to a wider audience in Malaysia and Asia.”

Pandemic notwithstanding, Fope spared no expense with the design of their flagship store, a gorgeous, elegant and yes, luxurious salon brushed in the brand’s signature colour palette as represented by the two-toned green walls, curtains and light fixtures. The handiwork of renowned Italian architect Flavio Albanese and his studio, ASA studio albanese—who also designed Fope’s other two flagships in Venice and London—the resplendent interiors were specifically designed to accommodate the Suen experience, that of private and highly personalised services to a discerning clientele, while also providing more than ample display space for Fope’s extensive jewellery collection.

Fope is best known for its core Flex’it lines, highly flexible jewellery pieces characterised by a patented technology that take the form of mesh gold chains that can roll on to one’s wrist comfortably without the need of clasps. The strength of the jeweller stems from a generational legacy of expertise and craftsmanship, further informed by a quintessential Italian style.

“The Asian market has always been one of significant importance for Fope, especially since we entered it with Suen 10 years ago,” offers Diego Nardin, CEO of Fope. “We feel that this is the right way to expand our awareness in Malaysia and Asia, with Suen continuing to be a valuable partner in growing our business forward.”

Fittingly, for 2021 through to 2022, Fope collections centre around the theme of “Journey”, to reflect the Fope woman who is constantly evolving with the times. She is multi-cultural yet universal, practical yet eclectic, full of energy and most of all, sophisticated.

The Fope flagship boutique is located at Suen Jewellers, 119, Jalan Maarof, Bangsar.
