Fort Canning. Commence with St. Andrew’s churchyard / North Bridge Rd / on your left, then swivel left into Coleman Rd and right onto St Andrew’s Rd. On your left is the grassy Padang where you’ll see Sunday cricket and behind in the distance, the fabulous roof of the Esplanade Theatres On The Bay (see previous page), which looks like a spangly bra at night. Shimmy on, to your right is City Hall and the Supreme Court which are being transforme­d into the National Art Gallery (due end 2015), while on your left is the Cricket Club. Hop across the road and ahead of you is the Old Parliament Building, now The Arts House / 6332 6900 / with great air con, as well as Earshot Café / 6883 1019 / stocking a nice line of books, music and iced tea. Carry on down Empress Place to the smart Asian Civilisati­ons Museum / 1 Empress Pl / 6332 7798 / acm.org.sg. This little cutey has some great gear and only takes an hour to whip through. Have a quick dekko at uncle Raffles round the corner, then into the marvellous­ly spruced-up Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall home to SSO / 11 Empress Pl / 3359 6120. Now, run like a nun over the pretty bridge to dowager doll The Fullerton Hotel / 1 Fullerton Sq / 6733 8388 / fullertonh­otel.com / and indulge in afternoon tea or Sunday brunch with ’poo.
