• One of the most distinctive mezzes is moutabal hommous beiruti, smooth chickpea mash with sesame seed paste and lemon juice and topped with blanched broad beans.

• Another sublime treat is the siyyediyeh, a hearty serving of fragrant basmati rice redolent with fried onions and spices complemented by chunks of roasted garoupa doused in a tangy sauce.
