Bunga Emas
WHY GO
As per its name, which means “golden flower”, Bunga Emas is draped in golden hues and decorated in traditional Malay style. Food-wise, it offers delicate twists on traditional Malay cuisine to welcome effect.
TATLER TIPS
The menu is wide and offers a grand selection of traditional Malay fare, with some mouth-watering contemporary updates.
• Order the traditional sup lambok ekor sapi, aka oxtail soup, which is remarkably less oily yet more tasty and citrusy than conventional counterparts found elsewhere.
• Notable mains include the beef tenderloin, which is surprisingly juicy despite being cooked to a higher degree than your usual steakhouse medium-rare; the wrapped fish aka otak-otak; and the ikan gulai, although locals might find its spiciness a tad too mild.
