Charcoal
WHY GO
Charcoal is a great new spot for foodies after a grill fix, especially those residing in Subang, Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya.
TATLER TIPS
This newish restaurant serves grill favourites, specifically Malaysian-style open grill staples such as whole seabass in banana leaf, alongside hunky 800g Tomahawks for two.
• The Melaka crab salad is a good way to start but don’t expect any greens to come with it. Fresh crabmeat mixed with coconut and shredded young mango is cleverly presented in a small crab shell.
• The signature grilled tiger prawns have a clean seafood sweetness, although portions are relatively small (only two prawns), so bigger appetites may want to order more.
• The ayam percik aka grilled chicken is a crowd favourite—the grilled skin has a delicate taste and is excellent with the gravy.
