Senja
WHY GO
Senja is a picturesque choice for a long lunch, particularly if the weather allows al fresco dining on the deck. In the evenings, the atmosphere is one of relaxed elegance.
TATLER TIPS
“Italian” can mean many things in this city, but Senja holds its head up around even the strictest nonna. While it does make local concessions (using beef bacon in the carbonara, for instance), it’s hardly the poorer for it. In fact, Senja is excellent value.
• The antipasti highlights include the pear, gorgonzola and walnut salad, and a vitello tonnato that could have come straight from Piedmont.
• Try the Australian rack of lamb with rosemary baby potatoes, celeriac and black pepper sauce that is lick-theplate good, and seared tuna with pickled red onion that is fresh and lively.
