THE SOLUTION: Before beginning our treatment for thinning hair, we were told by the senior stylist, Gideon Wong, to apply a few drops of the Aveda stress-relieving blue oil onto our palms, and inhale the scent and hold it for a few seconds before exhaling. It’s a ritual done before any Aveda treatment which helps to dissolve tension within the body and mind, due to the balancing aromas of refreshing peppermint and soothing blue camomile. The balance of the blue oil is used to condition and relax the scalp. Next, we received a scalp and hair analysis to determine the condition of the hair. We were then recommended the appropriate treatment to target our problem areas, a universal problem that a lot of people are facing in today’s modern world—thinning of the hair. So we were recommended the Invati treatment, which is a hair care system produced from 97 per cent of naturally derived ingredients, that reduces hair loss by 33 per cent. The treatment taps the power of Ayurveda—the ancient art of India—and is infused with 21st century technology called Densiplex, which is an invigorating blend of turmeric and ginseng that helps to activate the hair follicle to promote hair growth. The treatment began with massaging in the Scalp Remedy Intense Detoxifier, which helps to remove any impurities on the scalp in order for the Invati products to be absorbed better. Next, the Damage Remedy is applied to further strengthen the hair, and is then rinsed off using the exfoliating shampoo and conditioner, which help to thicken the hair. The last step was to spray on the Invati Scalp Revitalizer, which reduces hair loss. It is massaged onto the scalp using the Aveda Wooden Paddle brush instead of fingers, as it is gentler and it also reduces stress to the hair and scalp. Created for scalp treatments and detangling, this professional brush features extended bristles that help to stimulate and massage the scalp. After 10 minutes under a steamer, the hair was ready to be styled.
VERDICT: We left the salon with a beautiful bouncy hair that looked fuller and denser. It was more refreshed than it had been in a long time. We will definitely be following up with this treatment at home together with the range of home care products available for even better results.
