Proof that two hearts beat better than one, the intimate union between Vicky Hung and Kane Lightowler saw celebration themes of travel and vintage luxury come together to spectacular effect

chance meeting in Sydney in 2010 eventually led to romance for banking professional Vicky Hung and Kane Lightowler, the managing director at a cyber security software company. The couple’s decision to relocate to Singapore together in 2013 was a clear signal of their commitment to each other. Still, Vicky was surprised when the following year, while on a European vacation, Kane proposed to her in the city of love, Paris. She shares, “It happened while we were on the lawn in front of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica. Little did I know that he had also organised for several photographers to discreetly capture the moments leading up to the proposal and the proposal itself!”

With the couple’s friends and family jetting in from Australia, Thailand, Taiwan and the US for the celebration, travel formed one half of the celebration theme. The other half was vintage luxury. Planner Chère: Weddings & Parties wove the two themes together to create a celebration like no other.

Invitation cards were designed to look like passports and came with a travel guide to Singapore, while favours came in the form of personalised vintage-style leather baggage tags. Two days before the big day, overseas guests were taken on a specially arranged tour where they soaked up the city’s sights and sounds and tucked into local cuisine.
