Ju Nn Phang and Aaron Tey enunciate their eternal love in a romantic autumn wedding in Spain

Ju Nn Phang and Aaron Tey gathered their loved ones halfway across the globe to create heartwarming memories together

After years of courtship, Ju Nn Phang and Aaron Tey knew that weddingbells would chime soon but the question was where. Spain was not their initial choice of venue to tie-the-knot, as they intended to say “I do!” in Phuket. However, the idea to have a wedding halfway across the world was proposed by Ju Nn when she went through an album of their pictures travelling in Spain, and Aaron was completely on board with the idea as well.

The search for a wedding planner (which they eventually found in Paloma Cruz Eventos for their vintage style) and scouting for the perfect European venue was a meticulous one. Finally the culturally rich and historical Palacio de Villa Hermosa was chosen and was even depicted in all its glory through the classic hand-painted wedding invitations by designer Penny Qi.

Ju Nn was determined to find the perfect dress for every occasion, from the oriental themed reception at the Thean Hou Temple in Malaysia to exchanging vows in the lavish garden in Spain. “My goal was to find something timeless. I want to look back on my wedding gown 20 or 30 years from now and still recall the fond memories.”

“Aaron and I fell in love with Spain the first time we went there. We loved the architecture, the vibe, the history and the warm people”

It was sweet serendipity as Ju Nn and Aaron walked into Pronovias Barcelona’s flagship store without an appointment and found a beautiful ball gown with lace embroidery and applique all over—which she wore at the reception. Ju Nn then twirled in a custom corseted mermaid gown by Brian Khoo for her first dance with beadings and ombre ostrich feathers daintily sewn.

The couple were touched seeing their family and friends who flew across the globe to witness a heartfelt rendition of their romance. The gifts to echo their gratitude were semi-precious stones of amethyst and topaz presented in an acrylic box carved with the newlyweds’ names, “We wanted our guests to know that they were precious stones to be treasured for life.”

Ju Nn shares a tender moment when she hugged her family members after the ceremony and thanked them for their boundless support throughout the years. “Oddly, I never thought of what my dream wedding would be. I would say the wedding turned out to be everything we wanted and more. Especially with our loved ones here; we are still in awe and extremely grateful!”
