Tatler Malaysia

In Tune With Nature

-

This month’s cover shoot takes place in a semi-tamed jungle where glamping it out with two intrepid adventurers was the order of the day

Hungry mosquitoes pestered the Tatler team during this photo shoot, despite our precautionary efforts. Additional security while traipsing around the compound came in the form of two adorable and obedient guide dogs, as glamping retreat The Sticks covers a fairly moderate sized area in Kuala Kubu Bharu, about an hour’s drive from Kuala Lumpur. When our two stars finally arrived, Barry Edmonds allowed his father, Colin, a grand tour of the place, as he had never been here before. Like a young kid proud of his handiwork, it wasn’t difficult to spot Barry’s unbridled enthusiasm in showing off what he had built, to such an important figure in his life. We all but wilted under the unmerciful sun as we worked to get the shots we needed. Colin, however, seemed to have the uncanny ability to keep cool—despite donning a jacket, mind you—which he proclaims is due to years of environmental conditioning. One particular shot called for the duo to get their feet wet in a cool stream. While Barry gamely rolled up his pants, it took some coaxing to get Colin into the water. But what a star the two were as they pulled it off with ease. See the results on page 156.
