The couple had another celebration in Melbourne, outdoors at a park
For darren ow and katrina leong, it was fate that they would fall deeply in love. It was in 2008 that they were first introduced through a mutual friend while studying in Melbourne. They started off as friends, and two years later found out coincidentally, that their fathers were also childhood friends in Penang. It didn’t take long for their romance to spark and the rest as they say, is history. While the couple were on a mini getaway in Daylesford, Melbourne, Darren popped the big question at their favourite restaurant—woodland House. As Darren and Katrina both love spending time in parks and gardens over picnics and taking their dog for a walk, it made perfect sense to incorporate a garden theme for their wedding celebration. The ballroom of the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur was transformed into an ethereal garden filled with lots of luscious flowers in pinks and lilacs. Candles, that flickered gently, were added to create a romantic atmosphere while hints of gold made the ballroom sparkle subtly. Then there were tall structures and a duplicate of the Bethesda fountain statue which stood at the front entrance of the ballroom—replicating Central Park in New York. This spot was a huge hit with the guests, who took plenty of photos there throughout the magical night. The couple stayed true to their roots and incorporated Chinese elements in their union. The Chinese tea ceremony was held at their respective houses a day before the reception, where 150 of Darren and Katrina’s closest family and friends were in attendance to witness the ceremony. On the morning of the wedding, the couple also had fun during the gate-crashing games tradition.
