Corum brightens up Singapore with a pop-up store and nd whimsical Bubble timepieces that complement the i Light Marina Bay 2017 art festival, writes Tien Chew
The wrist has long been a place to adorn artistic accessories, and many horological pieces dazzle its viewers with mechanical innovations that present time in creative displays—the Corum Bubble is no exception. A timepiece that tells the time via a minimalist aesthetic and using artistic expression to commandeer the watch’s face. In light of celebrating the art form that is the Corum Bubble, the watchmaker for the first time joined the i Light Marina Bay 2017 art festival in Singapore. The event, that took place over three weeks in March, and featured 20 sustainable light art installations which illuminated the gorgeous Marina Bay waterfront, was the perfect opportunity for Corum to better acquaint the public with their charmingly playful watches through a pop-up store called the Bubble Capsule. Launched in 2000, the Bubble has become an icon of modern watchmaking due to its exciting displays and rounded smooth case. Inspired by an experimental dive watch, Corum made the e Bubble with a sapphire crystalal enclosing that magnifies the centre dial, creating an opticalal illusion that highlights the uniquenique designs gracing the watch’s dial.
