THE INVITATION

The weddings of Melisa with Andrew and Cheryl with Jason

-

It was seven years ago when I first met Melisa… in a club. I thought to myself that she was beautiful and probably out of my league,” said a slightly bashful Andrew. Looking dashing in a tailored suit from Lord’s Tailor and a ruffled bowtie, the new groom had his arms linked with Melisa, whose modern-day cheongsam in gold brocade and sequins was created by Jason Yek Couture. Andrew explains how he and Melisa kept crossing paths again down the road. “A year and a half later, we happened to meet at a restaurant. The funny thing is that my mother-in-law (to be) recognised me, but she didn’t.” And as the saying goes, ‘Better late than never.’ Seven years on they tied the knot, after getting to know each other better, and falling in love. Respectively the youngest son and daughter of Dato’ Richard Tan and Datin Alice Yap, and Dato’ YK Lee and Datin Kelly Chen, Andrew and Melisa chose to celebrate her family’s side of the nuptials at the grand ballroom of Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur. Throngs of guests were already gathered outside the ballroom an hour before the reception, sipping on cocktails and catching up with each other. A gargantuan wall of flowers set up by floral design company Spring Cottage served as a dreamy photo shoot backdrop for the couple’s friends and family members. The couple then had a change of outfits before time came for the bride and groom to make their grand entrance into the ballroom. Melisa was seen in a show-stopping white gown with a regal cathedral trail and an LED crown, while Andrew looked smart and dapper as usual in an officer-inspired uniform from D&L Bridal Fashion.
