When Cheryl Yeoh and Jason Sew Hoy met over a shared dessert during a work dinner, little did they know that wedding bells would soon be ringing
It was a sweet start from the beginning for Cheryl Yeoh and Jason Sew Hoy. Who knew that the simple act of sharing a pistachio crème brulee over a work dinner would fan innocent sparks into a passionate fire? From the thoughtfully planned Amazing Race-themed proposal to the romantic wedding ceremonies, each gesture was the epitome of relationship goals. Traditional rituals weren’t forgotten, with the Chinese hair-combing ceremony, gate-crashing and tea ceremony held prior to their Bali wedding celebration. Comprising an intimate group of those near and dear to the couple, their Bali wedding was a breathtaking do held at a scenic clifftop. The fun-loving couple even came up with their own signature cocktail, Unity—a combination of two of their favourite spirits poured into a decanter containing a third (sweet vermouth) that signified their union. For their first dance, Cheryl and Jason did a contemporary number to Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud. Then Jason also surprised his bride with a beautiful rendition of 500 Miles. Two and a half weeks later, their KL ceremony commenced just as dusk began to fall; sparklers blazed to life along the pathway, illuminating the faces of friends and family alike. Accompanied by the dreamy lyrics of Sky Full of Stars, the bride and groom made their way down the aisle. Guests were then regaled with the story of how Cheryl and Jason met, plus got to view the proposal video, which inspired plenty of ‘aww’ reactions throughout the hall, before the lovely couple took to the stage and mesmerised audiences with a reprisal of their first dance. After exiting for a quick change of outfits, they re-entered the hall with Jason leading Cheryl by the hand, soulfully singing 500 Miles to his blushing bride. Then once the final bite of pistachio crème brulee had been devoured, the floor cleared up for the bouquet toss. However, the party didn’t end there, as guests danced the night away to the sounds of DJ KH.
