Lovebirds Kok Wah and Angelyn as well as Shazwan and Syairah tie the knot

In their courtship spanning eight years, Mah Kok Wah and Angelyn Chong have stuck together through the many ups-and-downs of life, despite the six-year gap between them. Introduced to each other through Angelyn’s sisters Cherlyn and Clairyn, Kok Wah was struck by Angelyn’s beauty and poise. Determined to pursue her, Kok Wah enlisted the help of her sisters to matchmake them, and it wasn’t long before she also reciprocated his feelings and accepted him as her first boyfriend. Six years into their relationship, Kok Wah experienced a health scare that resulted in him being hospitalised. Throughout his recovery, Angelyn stayed by his side and cared for him—her devotion made him realise that she was the one he wanted to marry. Thus he went around looking for an engagement ring for his proposal. Then Kok Wah planned for the couple to go to Paris for a whirlwind trip and it was there in the City of Lights that he got down on one knee and proposed. Angelyn did not see it coming at all and stared at him in stunned silence for a while, before she said ‘yes’ with excitement. Befitting the couple’s fun-loving personalities, their wedding celebrations were filled with joy and laughter, from their gate-crashing and tea ceremonies, all the way to the glitzy dinner reception at the grand ballroom of St Regis Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Kok Wah’s entourage of groomsmen— dressed in pilot costumes in tribute to the groom’s work with the aviation industry—were subjected to a series of hilarious tests by the bridesmaids before he could claim his bride, during the gate-crashing. After acing the tests, the couple then proceeded with the tea ceremony and served tea to their elders as a sign of respect for the two families coming together as one. The wedding dinner had over 600 of the couple’s closest family members and friends in attendance, which started off with a cocktail reception. Over a free flow of wine, champagne and liquor, guests lined up at the photo booth to take photos with playful props. There was also a Llaollao bar where people were invited to customise their frozen yoghurt with a variety of flavours and sauces.
