Lighting
Other than the function of a space, do you know that the height and nishing of your ceiling can help determine your choice of lighting? We didn’t know too, until the director of Lightcraft, Sherreen Ho, shared her expertise with us. Here are four common types of ceilings and the best luminaires for each:
Plaster ceiling:
Wall-wash downlights to create ambience, plus oor and table lamps for better task lighting
Bare ceiling:
Track lights that can illuminate every corner of the house with minimum lighting points
Pitch roof:
Wall uplights and pendant lights to highlight the unique architecture of the pitch roof
Wooden ceiling:
A combination of uplights and downlights to both accentuate the wooden textures and improve direct lighting
