You must really like this place!” comments Michele Kwok to us upon her arrival at Zebra Square on Jalan Kampung Pandan, as she alighted from her vehicle with a wide grin. She is referring to our second time utilising this celebrated space for an event—the first being for the T.dining Best Restaurant Awards in December 2017. For context, Malaysia Tatler launched the inaugural Generation T list last year, a curated and exclusive list profiling 50 of the nation’s brilliant, creative and ambitious minds. Through the input of four dedicated panellists, fondly nicknamed as the Tatler Tribe consisting of Dato’ Simon Foong, Kathy Lam, Ruben Gnanalingam and Ganesh Muren, we were able to identify and list a total of 50 individuals who we have confidence will become leaders of tomorrow. This year, to shortlist a new set of 50 names—we reached out once again to our community and identified a new set of Tatler Tribe panellists. Though this time, we expanded the number to 10, chaired by managing director Florence Fang. We also decided to tap into new industries, such as science as well as energy, engineering and manufacturing, to name some. We wanted a panel diverse in age groups, gender and backgrounds for a more inclusive list to represent our nation’s myriad of talents.
