WHY HIM? The director and artist, co-founder of the famous Studio Ghibli, is the creative mind behind dozens of acclaimed films, including My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away. These films have inspired fans around the world with their themes of friendship, pacifism and—in almost every film Hayao has ever made— environmentalism. At the end of 2017, Hayao came out of retirement (for the third time) to work on another featurelength film.
