Architectural Splendour
Blending old traditions with new innovations. Not only has The Macallan Distillery entered a new epoch with its new home in northeastern Scotland, the centuriesold distillery recently architectured a spectacular single malt. See, swirl, sniff, sip and denitely savour the latest offering from the Edition Series. Warm and beautiful like burnished copper stills, Edition No.4 is best served in scotch or tulip glasses. A gentle whiff lls the olfactory senses with warm honey and toffee apples from the fairground. A second nosing reveals lush oral bouquets and matured oak. The rst sip unveils spicy nutmeg, fresh wood chips, and unripe cloves. Allow the libation to roll over your tongue in order to slowly reveal the dulcet characteristics of ripe fruit and vanilla. One will realise that no other single malt comes as close to The Macallan’s long lingering nish. The Edition No.1 and No.2 showcased cask and wood supremacy, while No.3 excites with alluring aromas and avours. Then the Edition No.4 focuses on structure— quite literally, drawing on the new distillery’s architecture for inspiration and reaching new heights in the single malt experience. No one described it better than master distiller Nick Savage: “A powerful and invigorating mouthfeel, as if standing on top of the new distillery roof in the Speyside breeze. A combination of carefully selected sherry seasoned oak casks brings out unique, refreshing qualities and delivers an unforgettable whisky experience.”
