Tunku Jamie Nadzimuddin and Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim celebrate their daughter’s first birthday
Royal couple Tunku Jamie Nadzimuddin and Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim gathered their families and friends together to celebrate their daughter Tunku Sofia Najihah’s first birthday. The party was held at Ruyi & Lyn restaurant on July 19, where the air buzzed with nostalgic Disney tunes, giving the usually darkened interiors a family-friendly vibe.
Che Puan Sarimah feels incredibly blessed for having Tunku Sofia in her early 40s. “Before Sofia, I was very careerminded. But, then after having a little person in our life, it’s like a massive blessing from God.”
Reminiscing on the past year since they had little Sofia, Tunku Jamie shares, “The best thing for us is realising that she’s our bigger purpose in life. Just loving her and watching her grow into her own person has been amazing for the both of us.”
As befitting a little princess, the party had touches of pink everywhere, from the cookies and cupcakes to the flowers and balloons. There was not only one but two birthday cakes—one topped with rose frosting, and the other a two-tiered cake with a little tiara.
The baby’s greatgrandmother Tuanku Najihah Tunku Besar Burhanuddin was naturally present, as were the doting grandparents—tunku Dara Naquiah, Tunku Datuk Mudzaffar, Ibrahim Ahmad and Elizabeth Hanlon.
When it came time to sing the birthday song, the entire family gathered round the main table for a picture of posterity. Love and laughter was the order of the day.
Che Puan Sarimah marvels at depth of her feelings for her baby girl. “Everything in life has ups and downs, and there are challenging moments, but even in those moments— when she’s crying or she’s sick—it’s hard to explain the love you feel for her.”
