Introduction: Scheduled to commence operations in September 2024, Concord College International School Malaysia (CCIS) is a new British International school catering to students aged 5 to 18, following in the successful footsteps of its sister institution, Concord College, UK. CCIS will provide a comprehensive education grounded in the English National Curriculum for Primary, Secondary, and Sixth Form (A Level). It aims to deliver an internationally-minded education that is academically rigorous, fostering a culture of excellence and a joyful learning journey underpinned by its ethos of rigour, kindness, and creativity. The school fosters a safe, vibrant, and friendly environment conducive to students’ growth and the realisation of their potential. Students are expected to uphold mutual respect and uphold the historic Concord values of harmony, decency, and trust.

Campus and facilities: Located just 16 km from KL International Airport (KLIA), the school is a purpose-built campus on 10 acres of land. Facilities include a half Olympic-size outdoor swimming pool, a multipurpose sports hall, tennis courts, a gym, sports track and field, an adventure playground, a medical care centre and more. The school also has science laboratories, music practice rooms, a small performance room, lawn amphitheatre as well as a study centre built for students to enjoy a quiet and flexible space to study independently. The low-density student residence offers tastefully furnished single rooms, each equipped with an attached bathroom, totalling over 162 beds spread across 6 floors.

Competitive advantage: The school will be led by Neil Hawkins, the former principal of Concord College UK, who brings 25 years of senior education leadership experience and a deep understanding of the Concord ethos. Hawkins’ carefully constructed leadership and teaching team promise to imbue the DNA of Concord College UK into the Malaysian campus, emphasising that grades are important, but also highlighting the significance of compassion and creative problem-solving skills in securing a child’s education.
