‘Reject foreign political funding’
GEORGE TOWN: Penang Umno Youth has lashed out at the alleged foreign intervention from George Soros to fund anti-national activities, including the Bersih rally and news portals.
Labelling the move as uncalled for, its chief, Rafizal Abdul Rahim, yesterday said there should not have been an attempted intervention in Malaysian politics.
He took Bersih rally organisers and news portal to task for dragging “outsiders” into Malaysian politics.
“Foreigners should not meddle in Malaysia’s internal affairs, particularly politics.
“Our stand is very clear: to uphold the Federal Constitution and disallow foreign elements in our politics and news operation.
“We must reject foreign quarters’ political funding because they have no place in our country.”
A video of Soros saying he had no remorse in carrying out his businesses, including currency speculation, has been circulating. In the clip, he said he had no regard for the social consequences of his actions.
The interview with TV show 60 Minutes was believed to have taken place in 1998, the year Malaysia and neighbouring countries were facing the Asian financial crisis.
“I cannot and do not look at the social consequences of what I do.”
When asked to described the person he was, Soros, in the interview, said: “It is one person who at one time engages in amoral activities and at the rest of the times tries to be moral.
“I don’t feel guilty. I’m engaged in an amoral activity which is not meant to have anything to do with guilt.” KiniTV director (right) with lawyer Sreenevasan at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. Khairull Azry Bidin
