MBM, C&C Bintang open 3S outlet in Cheras
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM), together with authorised dealer Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd (C&C Bintang), yesterday launched its 12th outlet in Cheras as part of its growth plan in Malaysia.
Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd regional managing director Haslam Preeston said the RM16 million 3S (sales, service and spare parts) outlet was part of C&C Bintang’s RM155 million investment budgeted for the central region.
“The investment by C&C Bintang in the new facility here, together with our recent purchase of a site in Sungai Besi for another future Mercedes-Benz Autohaus, shows its commitment to the brand, our customers and our partnership with MBM,” he said at the launch here yesterday.
The 48,642-sq-ft 3S centre has a showroom capacity for 15 vehicles and can service 300 vehicles a month.
Based on last year’s performance, C&C Bintang remains the largest Mercedes-Benz dealer in terms of sales volume and network among 22 dealerships and its strategy will align closely with MBM.
Cycle & Carriage’s (C&C) partnership with Mercedes-Benz goes back to 1951, when the family business imported the first passenger car into Malaysia.
Since then, C&C has been synonymous with Mercedes-Benz in Malaysia, Singapore and now Myanmar.
MBM president and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner said the history Mercedes-Benz shared with C&C was a partnership that it greatly valued.
“Beginning as one of MercedesBenz’s first authorised businesses in Asia, C&C has enjoyed an illustrious history in Malaysia’s automotive history.
“Sixty-six years later, C&C is still a formidable force and has proved, time and again, to be a front-runner in automotive retailing,” he said.
The brand posted an all-time sales record of 11,779 units last year, up nine per cent from 10,845 units sold the previous year.
Of the sales last year, C&C sold 4,873 units, or 42 per cent.
