Adam, Ayumu gear up for pre-season

- Farah Azharie

Norrodin and Ayumu Sasaki will zoom around the Circuito de Jerez, Spain, today with professional riders from other teams as they gear up for their first official Moto3 preseason test.

Going to Europe after a successful first test on the team’s home turf in Malaysia, Adam and Ayumu are determined to make progress on their Honda NSF250RW.

“It’s been a long time since we rode alongside other Moto3 teams and this can change many things,” said Adam.

Adam will compete in his second year in the championship while Ayumu will make his debut for the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) Racing Team.

“We worked a lot on the bike in Malaysia, so we don’t have anything big to test this time in terms of chassis and suspension but for sure, we will make some adjustments,” said Ayumu.

The 2016 Red Bull Rookies champion has settled in well with his new team, forging a good understanding with his technical crew.

For Adam and Ayumu, the Sepang outing benefited them a lot but for team manager Johan Stigefelt, there is much to be done over the three days in Spain.

“We still have things to work on, which we will carry out but overall, both the crew and riders already have a good understanding of the new bike and we’re confident we can make good progress at this test,” said Stigefelt.

Stigefelt’s main concern, however, is the weather in Spain as March is said to be the coldest month of the year.

“Of course the weather in Spain always plays a big part, so let’s see how that turns out because it will be interesting to see how the other Moto3 riders on the track do,” said Stigefelt.
