Man charged with raping his widowed mum

-

TAIPING: A 20-year-old man was charged at the Sessions Court yesterday with raping his biological mother earlier this month.

The odd-job worker, who was the second of five children, was alleged to have raped his 49year-old mother at their home in Kamunting, about 7pm on March 8.

Deputy public prosecutor Safiyatun Ahmadun urged the court to not grant bail as the crime involved a parent and child who lived in the same home and there was a possibility of the offence recurring.

Counsel M. Kathan, who represented the accused, asked for a low bail as his client was earning only RM1,100 a month.

Judge Mohd Sabri Ismail set bail at RM8,000 with one surety and fixed April 21 for mention.

A man and woman, believed to be the accused’s brother and mother, were present in court.

However, they left the courtroom without talking to the accused.

No bail was posted.

On March 9, it was reported that a widow with five children was raped by her biological son.

Police received a report from the mother and subsequently arrested the accused at his workplace here.
