AMAN suspected of sexually harassing a female passenger on a Kelana Jaya Line LRT train was apprehended by the Prasarana auxiliary police on Thursday. The 37-year-old pervert, from Lembah Subang, Selangor, was picked up at the Taman Jaya LRT station.
Prasarana auxiliary police had been hot on the trail of the man who had whispered vulgar words and made “naughty” face to the victim, Nur Dini Van Haeren, in the 7.57am incident on March 13.
The 21-year-old student at a private university in the Klang Valley posted her horrendous experience on Facebook.
She said as she boarded the train at the Kelana Jaya station en route to the city centre, the suspect looked at her “up and down with a very naughty face”.
She said the man whispered some words to her which she felt were vulgar.
Nur Dini managed to snap pictures of the man using her handphone. He got off at the Taman Paramount station.
She said she could have done more to protect herself at that moment such as shouting out or telling other passengers about the harasser.
However, she said she was afraid and embarrassed.
She expressed her appreciation and lauded the Prasarana team, which responded swiftly to her plight, and its relentless pursuit in apprehending the perpetrator.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
