Proud day for 339 cadet of­fi­cers

KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Per­tuan Agong Sul­tan Muham­mad V yes­ter­day at­tended the royal com­mis­sion­ing pa­rade of Univer­siti Per­ta­hanan Na­sional Malaysia cadet of­fi­cers.

The ruler pre­sented let­ters of ap­point­ment to 339 cadet of­fi­cers, who com­pleted four to five years of stud­ies in var­i­ous fields at the univer­sity.

They com­prised 194 cadet of­fi­cers, who were com­mis­sioned to serve in the Malaysian Army, Royal Malaysian Air Force (97) and Royal Malaysian Navy (48).

Cadet of­fi­cer Muhd Hafiz Muhd Yu­soff, who grad­u­ated with a de­gree in elec­tri­cal engi­neer­ing and power elec­tron­ics, was named the “Best Over­all Cadet Of­fi­cer” at the event at Kem Per­dana Sungai Besi here.

Present were De­fence Min­is­ter Datuk Seri Hisham­mud­din Hus­sein, his deputy, Datuk Mohd Jo­hari Ba­harum, Malaysian Armed Forces Chief Gen­eral Tan Sri Raja Mo­hamed Af­fandi Raja Mo­hamed and UPNM Vice-Chan­cel­lor Tan Sri Zulk­i­fli Zainal Abidin.

The king also re­minded the young of­fi­cers to have good val­ues and char­ac­ter to pre­vent from be­ing in­flu­enced by un­healthy el­e­ments.

With a good foun­da­tion in the mil­i­tary pro­fes­sion, he said the young of­fi­cers should be ready to con­tinue the mil­i­tary tra­di­tion of will­ing to sac­ri­fice for re­li­gion, peo­ple and the coun­try’s sovereignty.

The cadet of­fi­cers had com­pleted their train­ing while pur­su­ing their de­grees at Univer­siti Per­ta­hanan Na­sional Malaysia. Ber­nama
