2 held over land deal

MALACCA: Two agri­cul­tural prod­uct deal­ers, in­clud­ing a state DAP com­mit­tee mem­ber, were re­manded for three days for a du­bi­ous land deal in Ke­lan­tan five years ago.

Mag­is­trate Ana­lia Ka­marud­din is­sued the or­der yes­ter­day.

The two friends, aged 29 and 54, ap­peared in court at 8.30am.

The two were re­manded to as­sist in the probe un­der Sec­tion 420 of the Pe­nal Code for cheat­ing and dis­hon­estly in­duc­ing de­liv­ery of prop­erty.

A farmer had claimed that he was cheated of some RM976,300 by the duo, in­volv­ing a 202ha plot in a for­est re­serve in Ke­lan­tan, af­ter be­ing con­vinced by DAP Ayer Keroh assem­bly­man Khoo Poay Tiong.

How­ever, on March 14, the two friends told a press con­fer­ence that they de­nied any wrong­do­ing while ex­on­er­at­ing Khoo.
