Skid rule south­ern re­gion

SKID Taek­wondo Club cel­e­brated a first as they emerged over­all cham­pi­ons in the 12th Nes­tle Koko Krunch Ju­nior Taek­wondo Cham­pi­onship – South­ern Re­gion at the UTEM In­door Sta­dium in Ayer Keroh re­cently.

Jo­hor-based Skid, in win­ning the over­all ti­tle with a haul of 15 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals, de­throned 10-time cham­pi­ons Ko­ryo Taek­wondo Club. A to­tal 391 ex­po­nents from 12 clubs com­peted.

Skid had also de­throned Ko­ryo as the cham­pi­ons in last year’s Nes­tle Koko Krunch Ju­nior Taek­wondo Cham­pi­onship Grand Fi­nal in Kuala Lumpur.

Skid were in dom­i­nant form in the south­ern re­gion event as they also grabbed the over­all ti­tles in the boys’ and girls’ cat­e­gories. Skid ex­po­nents won 8 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals for the boys’ ti­tle with Ko­ryo (4-4-14) sec­ond and South­ern Taek­wondo Club (2-0-3) third.

Skid’s girls won 7 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze medals for the over­all ti­tle with Ko­ryo again sec­ond with 4 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals. Third were Matsa Taek­wondo Club with 1 gold and 4 silver medals.

An ad­di­tional hon­our for Skid came through Ah­mad Asyraf Hakimi Mazrul­hezam who was picked as the best per­former for the boys’ 10-12 age-group.

Ko­ryo’s Siti Naima Nata­sya Sheikh Ibrahim re­ceived the girls’ 10-12 hon­our.

Matsa’s Muham­mad Hariez Zaiqf Hayazid won the boys’ 7-9 ti­tle and South­ern’s Nur Aleya Batishah the girls’ hon­our.
