MBA 2017 HONOURS THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY
KUALA LUMPUR, MARCH 2017
Outstanding individuals and companies from across the country were honoured at the Malaysia Busines Awards 2017 by the Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce (KLMCC) in a prestigious event held at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on the 9th of March 2017.
Acting President of Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce, Mr Don Nazwim Don Najib, who addressed the crowd during his opening speech, described the business community as an integral part of the national economic development process. He also credited them for being able to step up and overcome the struggle in the current economic climate.
He said that KLMCC is proud to celebrate the award winners for their remarkable achievements in their businesses despite the challenging times.
“These award winners however managed to prove themselves to us and that they are the real winners for being able to beat the odds and still stand out in the business world.”
“They are excellent examples that should inspire our local businesses to soar to greater heights and help promote Malaysia to the world. We see the Malaysia Business Awards 2017 as a great opportunity to show our appreciation to those who have demonstrated works of considerable breadth and impact, as well as exemplary efforts in pushing this nation forward.” he added.
Wanita UMNO chief, Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil was the guest of honour at the event. This is the 7th edition of the Malaysia Business Awards hosted by KLMCC, which saw 21 awards recipients honoured in various categories.
Dato’ Seri Ibrahim Hj. Ahmad Badawi, the Executive Chairman of Dewina Holdings Sdn. Bhd was presented with the main award of the night, the “MBA Lifetime Achievement Award 2017” while Tan Sri Dato' Seri Utama Arshad Ayub was honoured for his splendid services to the business community with the “MBA Legacy Award 2017”.
Jakel Trading Sdn. Bhd. (Jakel) received the Industry Excellence Award for the retail category, while Jakel Group Managing Director, Datuk Mohamed Faroz Mohamed
Jakel was honoured with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The Excellence Award for Green Technology category was awarded to Concord Green Energy Sdn. Bhd. while the Ekuiti Nasional Berhad (EKUINAS) received the award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Corum Watches, Bentley Malaysia, Allianz Malaysia and The Peak magazine are the main sponsors for this distinguished event. It was hosted by Dato’ Mahadzir Dato’ Lokman and guests were entertained by live performances on stage.
