Flu keeps Carvajal on the sidelines
MADRID: Spain defender Dani Carvajal missed the team’s training session on Wednesday because of flu, while reserve goalkeeper Pepe Reina was dropped from the squad after picking up a muscle injury.
The Spanish football federation said Carvajal did not train as a “precaution” ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Israel today.
Reina had missed a practice session on Tuesday and on Wednesday doctors concluded that he would not be fit in time for the team’s upcoming matches.
Spain play a friendly against France in Saint-Denis, four days after the home game against Israel in Gijon.
