TV star couple expecting first child
SOME celebrities keep their pregnancy news under wraps until much later, or until the baby bump shows.
But, for actor Amar Baharin and his actress wife, Amyra Rosli, they have decided to announce the news on social media as soon as it was confirmed by doctors.
Amyra, 26, who tied the knot with Amar, 31, in November last year, is seven weeks’ pregnant.
“I don’t see the point in hiding it,” said Amar at the launch of Astro’s new drama slots at Saloma Bistro in Jalan Ampang recently.
Following their announcement, Amar said he was surprised to receive offers by those seeking exclusive rights to publish photos of the baby once born.
“It was overwhelming. But, I told them that for now, my focus is on Amyra’s pregnancy.
“Amyra actually showed some pregnancy symptoms earlier, but we didn’t really think too much of them, until Tuesday night when she complained of tummy ache.
“So, I brought her to Gleneagles Ampang for an ultrasound scan. Then, we heard what sounded like the baby’s heartbeat. We were so overjoyed at that moment, and at the same time, very thankful for this blessing.”
Since Amyra is still in the early stages of pregnancy, she has been advised to get as much rest as possible.
“Amyra is a workaholic. I keep telling her to rest, but she will only listen to doctors’ advice,” said Amar.
The couple had planned to take a break after filming for television drama series Jadikan Aku Yang Kedua, and TV shows, such as ExpeRIAnce: Projek Theme Park and Romantika, wrapped up.
Amar said Amyra’s work schedule, including hosting the weekly Muzik Muzik chart show would be revised and minimised, at least until after the first trimester.
Jadikan Aku Yang Kedua marks the couple’s debut playing on-screen lovers after getting married. He plays teacher Thaqif, who is forced to marry his former student, Nuha (Amyra Rosli), following his wife’s death after giving birth to twins.
Previously, Amar and Amyra had starred together in Cik Bunga Encik Sombong and Suamiku Encik Sotong.
Jadikan Aku Yang Kedua airs every Monday to Wednesday at 9pm beginning April 3 on Astro Oasis (Astro Channel 106) and Maya HD (Astro Channel 135).
