VENTS ABOUT WATER WOE

-

in 280 areas.

The pipe was repaired by Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) the same day, but the utility company said it would take more than 48 hours to restore supply to the affected areas.

In the first clip, Khairy asks his son if he has taken his bath and frames a scene of a few pails of water in his house with a caption “Mana air ni?” (“Where’s the water?”).

The second clip shows Khairy asking his second son if he has showered after playing football.

“You look dirty and smelly after playing football, have you showered?” he asks. This is followed by his son entering the bathroom and turning on the tap. No water comes out.

His final clip comes with a dialogue: “I can’t wait. Air Selangor (Syabas) said there would be water after 48 hours. Bismillahirahmannirahim.” He then turns on the tap which produces only a trickle of water and turns to the camera with a dejected face.

Checks in areas such as Petaling Jaya, Bangsar, Jalan Gasing and Jalan Ipoh showed water supply had been restored.

Restaurant operator N. Manonmani said her business was not affected by the water cut because she had installed eight water tanks as a back-up.

“Water disruption in our area is quite common, and to avoid the problem we installed the tanks as well as pumps. Without these, it would have been difficult for us to operate,” she said.

Syabas, in a statement, said as at 3pm yesterday, water supply had returned to normal in Klang and Shah Alam.

Air Selangor Group corporate communications head Amin Lin Abdullah said water supply had been restored to 84 per cent of affected areas in Kuala Lumpur and 86 per cent of areas in Petaling.

“Water supply in Kuala Lumpur is being restored in stages. The affected places include Bukit Damansara, Jalan Setiabistari, Setiarasa, Setiaraya, Setiajaya, Medan Setia and Jalan Setiamurni.
