Griezmann not worth RM550 million, says McManaman

Cristiano Ronaldo is worth double Antoine Griezmann’s £100 million (RM550 million) price tag after Real Madrid’s talisman outclassed the Atletico Madrid forward in the Champions League semi-final, believes Steve McManaman.

Griezmann has been heavily touted as a summer target for Jose Mourinho, but it was the former Manchester United man who took all the headlines at the Bernabeu.

Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick against his city rivals to give his side a three-goal cushion going into the second leg at Vicente Calderon next week.

“We all expected Atletico to score goals with their firing line,” McManaman said on BT Sport. “The big players really turned up today and I think that’s the difference.

“You talk about Griezmann being a £100 million player, he didn’t do anything today, did he? He did not do anything. So he hasn’t put himself in the shop window at all.

“If he is worth £100million then Ronnie (Ronaldo) is worth £200 million isn’t he?”

The Portuguese forward showed his value once by stepping up on the big occasion for his side.

All the talk before the clash in the Spanish capital was about how both star players, Ronaldo and Griezmann, would compare against one another.

And McManaman believes the Real star outclassed the Frenchman on the biggest stage.

“He (Ronaldo) is so clinical, so, so clinica. We talked about comparisons between Ronnie and Griezmann, and there was one winner.”
