SWIMMER Wong Fu Kang will have to buck up if he intends to defend his 100m breaststro­ke gold at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games in August.

Yesterday, the 18-year-old from Johor failed to defend his Malaysia Open title in Malacca when he came in second in his pet event behind Thailand’s Matjiur Radomyos.

The Thai swimmer, who won gold at the 2013 Games in Myanmar, posted one minute 3.40 seconds, while Fu Kang only managed 1:03.90s.

Hong Kong’s Kwok Ka Fai came in third on 1:05.02s.
