Swim­mer needs to im­prove or be left be­hind

SWIM­MER Wong Fu Kang will have to buck up if he in­tends to de­fend his 100m breast­stroke gold at the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games in Au­gust.

Yes­ter­day, the 18-year-old from Jo­hor failed to de­fend his Malaysia Open ti­tle in Malacca when he came in sec­ond in his pet event be­hind Thai­land’s Matjiur Radomyos.

The Thai swim­mer, who won gold at the 2013 Games in Myan­mar, posted one minute 3.40 sec­onds, while Fu Kang only man­aged 1:03.90s.

Hong Kong’s Kwok Ka Fai came in third on 1:05.02s.
