ACC rewards Azizul for world success
AZIZULHASNI Awang is to receive a cash incentive of US$5,000 (RM21,680) from the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) after his success at the World Track Cycling Championships in Hong Kong last month.
Azizulhasni had stunned the field in Hong Kong to win the world keirin title.
ACC treasurer Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said the decision was made during the ACC management board meeting held in Dubai last Saturday.
“During the meeting, I made a special representation to the board members that Azizul’s achievement in Hong Kong to be acknowledged by ACC as his feat has not only brought honour to Malaysia but to Asia as a whole by succeeding in the World Championships.’
At the meeting, the ACC decided to lobby to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to reinstate the number of track events back to 10 instead of the current seven.
“ACC president, Osama Al Shafar, will be writing to OCA to impress on the stand by ACC,” said Amarjit. Farah Azharie
