TNB signs new deals with YTL for Paka plant

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has signed a new power purchase agreement (PPA) and land lease agreement (LLA) with YTL Power Generation Sdn Bhd for 585 megawatts from its combined cycle power plant in Paka, Terengganu.

This is pursuant to a letter of award, dated April 20, issued by the Energy Commission to YTL for it to continue operating the YTL plant for a further three years and 10 months.

“The scheduled commercial operation date of the plant is September 1,” it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia here yesterday.

TNB and YTL had, on March 31, 1993 executed a PPA for the sale and purchase of electrical energy generated by YTL in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the original PPA.

The new LLA will replace the terms and conditions of the original land lease agreement dated July 30 1993, between TNB and YTL.

Further to this, the new LLA will govern the lease of the portion of TNB’s land in Paka used by YTL for the purpose of the extension and demobilisation of the plant thereafter.

TNB said the new PPA governed the rights and obligations of the parties for the generation and sale of electricity and for YTL to make available to TNB. Bernama
