Var­si­ties key in cor­po­rate sec­tor suc­cess

Malaysian Busi­ness Sen­ti­ment Sur­vey 2016/ 2017 re­vealed the im­por­tance of uni­ver­si­ties nur­tur­ing tal­ent that will en­able firms to en­hance their in­no­va­tive ca­pac­ity, process im­prove­ment and prod­uct de­vel­op­ment.

The chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cers and se­nior man­agers who took part in the sur­vey viewed that Malaysian uni­ver­si­ties play an im­por­tant role in en­hanc­ing cor­po­rate sec­tor wealth cre­ation opportunities.

How­ever, they be­lieve the top three pri­mary fo­cus ar­eas of uni­ver­si­ties should be to en­hance grad­u­ate em­ploy­a­bil­ity (63 per cent), en­sure the re­search and de­vel­op­ment ini­tia­tives meet the needs of in­dus­try (61 per cent) and de­velop train­ing pro­grammes that are rel­e­vant and ben­e­fi­cial to the in­dus­try (59 pre cent).
