Thousands throng job fair

The Wow Carnival booth was divided into a few sections — KUALA LUMPUR: The two-day Barisan Nasional Youth Job Fair, which is part of the Youth Expo 2017 held in conjunctio­n with the Umno 71st anniversar­y celebratio­n, concluded yesterday evening.

It proved to be a big hit among jobseekers at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Hopeful candidates were seen holding their resumes, braving the heat and crowd in hopes of securing a place in the company of their choice.

One hopeful was Mohamad Ameer Asyraf, 21, who arrived early in the morning with his friends.

“I came early so that I will be able to submit my resume to a few companies of my interest.

“There is also a variety of jobs being offered here, and this gives young graduates choices,” said Ameer.

He applauded the organisers for the effort and hoped that similar expos would be done in other states.

One of the exhibitors, Kelly Services, offered more than 300 jobs for the 1Malaysia Training Scheme.

Its corporate accounts local team leader Mohd Fahmi Md Yusof said the recruitmen­t firm interviewe­d 60 candidates for the day alone and hired 14 on the spot.

More than 30 exhibitors joined the expo. Laman Wow (Cerekarama, Inspirasi and Tonton), Banana Land, Gelanggang Kita Juara and Wow on Air.
