Na­jib lauded for up­hold­ing Is­lam, Malay rights

PADANG TERAP: Umno lead­ers have lauded party pres­i­dent Datuk Seri Na­jib Razak for reaf­firm­ing Umno’s com­mit­ment to up­hold Is­lam and Malay rights.

They also ex­pressed con­fi­dence that the party was ready to face the next gen­eral elec­tion re­gard­less of when it was called.

“The party is on the right track to face GE14 and we are talk­ing about a real ma­chin­ery on the ground, not just mere num­bers on pa­per,” said Umno Supreme Coun­cil mem­ber Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid here yes­ter­day.

In Perlis Men­teri Be­sar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said the mas­sive crowd at Umno’s 71st an­niver­sary yes­ter­day was a tes­ta­ment to the party’s strength and unity.

“It shows that Umno is pre­pared for the gen­eral elec­tion and it is not weak as some peo­ple claimed. The num­ber of new mem­bers also keeps grow­ing ev­ery day,” he said yes­ter­day.

In Umno Dun­gun divi­sion com­mit­tee mem­ber Datuk Za’abar Mohd Adib said Umno had never aban­doned the in­ter­ests of the Malays and Bu­mi­put­era.

“He (Na­jib) made it clear in his speech that the gov­ern­ment is al­ways with the peo­ple dur­ing ups and downs. This is the kind of leader we need as we head to­wards 2050.

“His Na­tional Trans­for­ma­tion 2050

(TN50) agenda will not only spur the coun­try’s growth, but also set a clear di­rec­tion for the na­tion,” he said.

In Sabah Umno Youth vice-chief Sha­helmy Yahya said the party had al­ways fought for the rights of all Malaysians.

“Umno has never stopped (fight­ing) even af­ter seven decades.

“Where we are to­day, no one can deny Umno’s achieve­ments in ed­u­ca­tion, health­care and the econ­omy,” he said yes­ter­day.

Mean­while, Sabah Umno Youth deputy per­ma­nent chair­man Bahrul Razha Chuprat said young party lead­ers must con­tinue serv­ing the peo­ple to pre­serve Umno’s sta­tus as the coun­try’s back­bone.

“Umno al­ways trains young lead­ers and gives them the op­por­tu­nity to con­test in the elec­tions.”

It shows that Umno is pre­pared for the up­com­ing gen­eral elec­tion and it is not weak as some peo­ple claimed. The num­ber of new mem­bers also keeps grow­ing ev­ery­day.
